Optimist Essay Contest Due January 31st!

- AROUND TOWN -

Until the Hub of the Huddle blog passes on into new hands, we aren't always able to catch much daylight. However, we can stay updated on all of the fantastic things happening in our community!

Last night during the WCSD Board Meeting, two 6th grade students were recognized for the Brothertown Optimist Club Student Recognition Award.
Congratulations Bianca and Garth!
From the Brothertown Optimist Club
"Student recognition award In recognition for exhibiting optimism, hard work, and respect for others at Memorial Park Elementary School. Congratulations to Bianca DeFazio and Garth Holmberg! Thank you to Maureen Gray and Waterville CSD for presenting these awards during your Waterville CSD Board of Education meeting tonight on behalf of the club."

Over the weekend, the Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Believe 271, Kelley Phillips Legion Post 569, OFFD Inc, and friends of Tim Hodge held a successful Drive-Thru Chicken BBQ that resulted in over $11,000 for the Hodge family! Well done, and thank you to all of the BBQ purchasers

Photos: It Takes a Village Diaper Bank
The It Takes a Village Diaper Bank received help wrapping diapers from Park United Methodist Church and sent some items that way, as well as sending additional feminine care products to the Waterville Area Food Pantry. Diapers and feminine care are not covered items, so this full circle help can go a long ways. Meanwhile the Waterville Area Food Pantry packed Weekend Warrior bags of snacks that can be picked up at the Waterville Public Library all week (any child 18 & under).

Way to go Community!
Be sure to send in all of your community happenings out there, so that we can add those on too!

Data has again been retrieved from the Village's radar speed signs. The portable sign has been placed on NYS315 for the past 3 weeks. I have noticed first-hand that this sign's presence has made a huge difference in slowing vehicles down coming into the village.
