- AROUND TOWN -

While we're kept in today, we're taking a look back 10 years ago, thanks to the original At Home in the Huddle, to January 2011.

The big news of the month, the Town of Marshall Barn Fire on January 2nd.

I talked with Marshall Township Historian Dorothy McConnell, a little while ago, and she said that she did not recall any disaster in Deansboro that would equal the effects of this fire.

There must have been over a dozen tankers taking turns filling up at the bridges on 315 and California Road.

Another January fire that P.S. Brown took note of, that many still remember, the Candee Block fire.
You can have some fun reading articles regarding the Candee Block through the Fulton History website

In happier news, while some things have stayed the same (like the American Legion January Fish Fry) the upgraded Village Sign is something we've all become accustomed to. However, if you ever held that door up while changing out each individual letter, you're thankful for the ease in which notices are posted these days!

The Deansboro Towpath trails were also getting consistent use. You can see our photo from the weekend in Monday's post. With the 2011 January thaw, they looked far different than this year- despite the mild month we've experience thus far!

Later in the month it still looked like this on East Main St. Once again, If you don't like the weather in CNY, just wait!

While we here at the library are missing our usual Tuesday Card Group, this photo was a favorite to stumble upon! So was the description! Quite accurate!
As soon as I went in the side door I could hear what sounded like a group of teenage girls at a slumber party: lots of laughing and giggling --- and I knew there would be smiles, there, so I followed the sounds ........

We hope all our readers all finding ways to gather to keep up the fun!
Community members hopped on the CommuniTEA discussion on Monday night through Zoom to just chat. As the conversation weaved, brainstorming has now begun for a place and a platform for a central Community Calendar that is open to all groups, businesses, etc!
Feel free to email your input to hubhuddle@gmail.com

See you Friday with more of 2021
