From the Waterville Volleyball Facebook page:
"Tonight was one of the most exciting games I have ever coached. I have very little voice left. So proud of this team and program. The bench was ROCKIN' with positive energy, JV players in stand were cheering loud, parents cheering and encouraging, and the players brought their game! Our win tonight means we share the divisional title with Remsen. They still need to play Westmoreland and we need to play NY Mills, but it looks like we will both be sharing the title this year."

World War One was beginning to rage in Europe, having begun in August 1914.  The US would not enter the war until April 2017.   Click Here for a History Channel website chronicling the titanic struggle, day by day.   We'll keep you posted on major events from time to time as the WW1 centennial progresses.

This aerial photo of trenches in France was taken 95 years after the the first Battle of the Somme, which would ignite on July 1, a hundred years ago this coming summer.  One of the most horrific battles in all recorded history, more than a million people were wounded or killed in total. The British alone suffered approximately 60,000 casualties on the first day of fighting (after a week of heavy artillery shelling on German fortifications, which was nowhere near as effective as the Allies hoped it would be).
