- AROUND TOWN -

Thanks to the Waterville Volunteer Fire Department for sharing these photos and post from Louis Langone. Just keep your fingers crossed for the intersection of Route 20 and Route 12...
Today, February 19, 1985, 36 years ago the Purple Cow Restaurant fire, a total loss, a 19 year old man died in the fire. The fire was thought to be arson, probably set by a burglar.

It was too dark for photos this morning, and for the rest of the day prep has been underway for the next Community Drive-Thru coming up tomorrow, Saturday, February 19th from 10 am - Noon! The members of the community have been busy passing on winter gear and toys at the library. Those are then quarantined before finding new homes. The Waterville Area Food Pantry/Weekend Warriors, have packed fantastic food bags to pass out to kids. The snacks even get a bit of an upgrade thanks to the American Heart Association.

Meanwhile, the It Takes a Village Diaper Bank has been incredibly busy with grants, donations, pass-it on items, and putting volunteers to work!  The big news though, which is spreading through the grapevine is that they are now in the process of opening a storefront. But rest assured. The Community Drive-Thru, one stop approach will continue!

More information on the storefront as it happens. You'll be able to find them in the former Earthly Organics, and before that Totally-U. Next to the laundromat.

At the Barton Hose Company, the line for their February Friday Fish Fry was telling but fast moving. There's one more week to get a great meal while supporting the Deansboro Fire Department!

A beautiful honor that kept the library busy with knitting needles, yarn, smiles, and snacks. *** Without windchill... Clear sidewalks thanks to the DPW taking care of business (working hard in the next 3 pictures). Local restaurants are certainly a warm place to get out and grab a bite. Friday Fish Frys are already popular this winter. Of course, flowers in winter never hurt either.
