- AROUND TOWN -

More local history shared by Louis Langone:
A BIT OF WFD HISTORY, on this day (Apr. 24, 1829) 192 years ago the Waterville Fire Department was organized. At that time it was just a group of men who enlisted to put out fires by using the bucket brigade. Later that year, Dec. 8, 1829 they elected the first fire chief, then called engineer. Many years later the WFD got their first fire apparatus, a horse or hand drawn hand pumper (1868) and then their second was a horse or hand drawn chemical steam pumper (425 gpm) in 1877.

Blooms are getting ready to truly burst! With the last few days including April Showers, we're hoping to see plenty May Flowers right along!
