Memorial Day weekend ended the month of May with cool and rainy weather. Breaks of sunshine came later in the day on Monday, Memorial Day, but regardless of weather the community showed up for parades and ceremonies across Waterville, Deansboro, and Oriskany Falls.

The Deansboro community and our Deansboro Cemetery Association appreciate the volunteer work that Bob Vandenbergh does for our veterans every year. He has researched, located, funded and placed veteran markers and flags on graves as well as Deansville and Deansboro Fireman. He also leads the team of fireman in placing flags in the Deansboro Cemetery. Thank you very much to our Bob and all the board volunteers and maintenance crew who maintain the grounds all year round. Todd Coon the father of four young children was the only one home at the time when the fire broke out. Todd was asleep because he works third shift. By the grace of God, Kurt Carney, his neighbor was unexpectedly home at the time. After many attempts, Kurt was able to wake Todd and he escaped safely, but all of their belongings are gone. Joseph E. Reddy July 20, 1944 - March 4, 2021 Click Here for Full Obituary With this tribute from the Oriskany Falls Fire Department: With deep sadness, we share the news that past member Joseph Reddy has passed. Joe became a member of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department in 1968. Over his 50+ years, he served in many capacities including; the department Secretary, President, long time Fire Commissioner and earned Life-Member status. In addition, he served as Mayor of our Village from 1974 to 1977. His contributions to our department during his years of service are immeasurable. He was an integral part of many activities of yesteryear including being the Chairman of the Snowmobile races, Motocross races and Field Day Committee, as well as a long time delegate to the Oneida County Fireman’s Association.
