While some Halloweens have produced snow, 2019 included a fast and steady downpour and huge wind gust creating atypical flooding issues. WCSD went from a 2 hour delay, to being Closed for the safety of staff and students.

- AROUND TOWN -

The mild temperatures early on Halloween made the early rainfall and wind gusts that accompanied Trick-or-Treating manageable.  But that all changed as the rain and wind intensely increased overnight, making the first part of Halloween feel like a distant memory to many.

The Waterville Times captured this photo of the remaining car in the sinkhole that formed at the Schoolhouse Apartments in the pre-dawn hours this morning.

Our hearts go out to the family, to others in situations similar, to the extremely hard working crews that have been out all night.  Information on relief efforts will be shared as it comes.

The Village of Waterville shared these photos of the flooding and damage at the reservoir on Upper White Street.

Before the storm... there was some impressive Halloween spirit throughout Waterville!

The Pumpkin Lighting, now a combined effort between the MPS PTA and the Waterville Rotary Club, took place at the elementary school on Wednesday evening. The event included decor by the students, games, dancing with music provided by Don Brown II, plus cider and donuts.

Early Thursday afternoon, the Waterville Residential Care Center hosted a Halloween Party that was open to the community, creating a full circle of giving with happily costumed kids and residents enjoying the show.

Putnam Street held many an enthusiastic household that truly entertained Trick-or-Treaters!  If you have more photos, please send them in!

The Jandreau family managed to keep their canopy in one place, and it offered respite from attempts to hold an umbrella.  Not that one could feel settled there...

One could also enter the twisty turns of Wonderland in this converted Putnam Street garage

The Hoffmeisters on Tower Street was other worldly once again this year as well!
