  Special MERCURY TRANSIT OBSERVING EVENT
Want to see planet Mercury as it crosses (transits) across the Sun? Come to the Barton-Brown Observatory in Waterville (next door to the Waterville Public Library) to witness this rare event! MVAS club members will be there, and we'll have a special "solar" telescope so you can safely look at the Sun and planet Mercury!

We'll be setup by 7 AM, and ready for "first contact" with the edge of the Sun at 7:12 AM. Over the next 7 1/2 hours Mercury's orbit eventually takes it on a journey across the Sun, ending at the other edge of the Sun at 2:42 PM.   Stop by anytime between 7 AM and 2:45 PM on Monday!!

By the way, the next transit of Mercury visible from the Mohawk Valley won't be until November 11, 2019 so don't miss this opportunity.

We hope to see you Monday, the weather is looking great!
