Locally, Philippa Brown shared this flashback that many might remember:
"Twenty-six years ago, in 1991, the nearly 100 area residents who were serving in the Gulf War each received this Valentine from Waterville. The event was organized by the legendary "Great Western Society" whose members spent several weeks acquiring contact information for all the servicemen and women. The Fire Department laid out a hose in the shape of a heart in the Post Office parking lot. One of the Brennan brothers from Stafford Avenue took the photo from the roof of the bank building, Harding Nursing Home contributed copies, and Bob Harding himself drove them to a bank (I believe) in Syracuse to use their brand new modern invention: a FAX machine - the only one in the area!"

- NEWSWORTHY -

The Blessing in a Backpack program has been greatly appreciated over the years.  We previously mentioned that the Timians would be finishing up their great work with the program.  Here is further information on the transition that is happening.

We, along with  the majority of the village, stopped by The Waterville Standard Bakery. Martine and Jack Cook are graciously looking for ways to best meet the community's needs and tastes, and are quickly selling out doing so!  Their production and hours are likely to adjust as they continue to settle in.  What you can expect now:
Hot coffee with local FoJo Beans. Homemade Chai Tea, and Hot Tea.
Martine is a trained barista so you can expect more espresso based drinks to be brewing in the future too.  French breads & pastries, including her locally famous croissants and french loaves.  Plus, morning buns (think cinnamon donut), crumb cake, and scones.  Again, we can expect more delicious options as they get a feel for what we're all hungry for.
What else can we appreciate as Watervillians besides happy taste buds?  The renovations that have taken place!  It is one more great looking business to add to our Main Street and is working to blend in beautifully with their neighbors, while giving you a cozy place to retreat.

A beautiful sign of community support!

As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22 degree angle, creating a halo 22 degrees in radius (or 44 degrees in diameter). A double halo, sometimes with spokes, may be seen on rare occasions when light reflects off water or ice.      The prism effect of light passing through these six-sided ice crystals separates the light in...
