"The Blog" rides on!

(straight ahead)
The snowmobile route signs are out on the Gallaghers' farm along Osborne Avenue.
(What's missing from this scene?!)

Thank you, PsB!

There's an old saying that admonishes: "never follow a child or animal act."  Well, speaking of hard acts to follow, here we are, flouting the wisdom of old Vaudeville--  humbly accepting the gracious invitation and challenge of Mrs. Philippa Brown, aka "The Huddleblogger," to carry on hers and her late husband Dick's mission to chronicle "Life in the Small Village of Waterville in "Upstate" New York."   Incidentally, so obvious from the ever-present twinkle in her eye, our dear friend Flip is very much a child at heart.  Moreover, one might characterize At Home in the Huddle as having leaned over the past nine years decidedly toward flora vis-à-vis fauna!  (There's a reason for that.)

"We" are your staff at the Waterville Public Library, your new home, i.e., "Hub" of the Huddle.  And, we invite you to join us in following and helping us to nurture this new blog along the lines its founder envisioned for the original,-- which the Huddleblogger restated on January 1 of this year with the advent of her 10th annual volume, as follows:

Begun in June, 2006, when the Village was half-way through a two-year New York State Department of Transportation Highway Reconstruction Project,  [the blog, At Home in the Huddle] was intended not only to document changes that were taking place, daily, but to look back in Waterville's past and share stories of other historic events and the people who, since the community's settlement in 1792, have made Waterville, originally called "the Huddle" and once the "Hop Capital of the World," what it is, today.  The new highway was finished in 2007, Victorian lamp posts were installed in 2008, the Memorial Bandstand constructed in 2010, and still the blog - and life in "the Huddle" - goes on.

So, THANK YOU AGAIN, FLIP!    And let's get started!
