Crime drama starring George Rand, from a novel by Dashiell Hammett
Ed Beaumont is the personal friend, advisor and bodyguard to Paul Madvig, the political boss of a large city. When the son of Madvig's political opponent is mysteriously murdered, Madvig's enemies try to pin the crime on him because he is waging a clean-up campaign they oppose. Ed risks his life and his reputation to find the killer and clear his friend.
The Strand Classic Film Festival is a revival of movies shown at the Strand Movie Theater in the Waterville Opera House in 1935, as listed on posters donated to the Historical Society's collection by Lurena McNamara. Our thanks to her and to Sean Nevison, the Hamilton Movie Theater, and all who have attended the series.
