4-H Members, Leaders and volunteers were recognized for their accomplishments and service at the Annual 4-H Achievement Night, November 14th at Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County. In attendance to receive awards were: Our youngest Members (ages 5-8). These Cloverbud Members were presented with The Thumbs Up Award, in recognition of their participation at the Boonville Fair. Martin Luther Melanie Beers Blaise Larry Reese Finn Andrew Kilgore Caleb Beers Tommy vanLieshout Bobby vanLieshout Eden Czajka Dixie Wilson Alexander Slone Earning special recognition for exemplary performance at the New York State Fair are: Robin Litts- Purple Rosette- Powerpoint Presentation on Hippology Project Certificates are awarded to those youth who have completed a minimum of 6 hours in a project area. Alyssa Buck- Arts & Crafts Jacob Buck- Horse Communications Aaron- Finn Dairy Trace- Finn Dairy Youth who submit an essay on what they have learned and accomplished over the past year are eligible for a Personal Growth Certificate Lanelle Vile Selby Young Project Medals are given to those youth who have not only done outstanding work in the specific project area but they have gone the extra step to share that project with others by  doing a Creative Communication and a face to face interview with volunteers.Alyssa Buck- Horse Jacob Buck- Horse Stephanie Grocholoski- Horse Peter Grocholoski- Woodworking Pazia Grocholoski- Horse Lanelle Vile- Horse, Community Service and Public Speaking Selby Young- Horse, Community Service and Public Speaking Robin Litts- Horse, Arts and Crafts, Public Speaking, Performance Arts, Food and STEM. The Outstanding Creative Science Award was presented to Robin Litts. In addition to winning a Polaroid Camera donate by Joanne Fabrics she will be representing Oneida County 4-H at STARR. The State Teen Action Representative Retreat (STARR) is a three-day, fun-filled event, held at the NY State Fairgrounds. While there 4-H teens participate in a variety of workshops and activities meant to challenge, excite and further develop life skills. 4-H Member Lanelle Vile nominated and presented Dr. Brenda Brockway DVM with the My Favorite Leader Award. Lisa Farney, 4-H Youth Development Educator, presented Lanelle Vile with The 4-H Helping Hand Award. The behind the scenes work Lanelle provided made 4-H events such as the Tack Sale, Boonville and State Fairs run smoothly. Community Service is a huge part of 4-H. In 2018 4-H gave back over 1680 hours to the Community. In Total 125 youth participated in volunteer opportunities. In attendance to receive individual and club awards and Stewart’s Ice Cream Certificates were, from: 4-H Foothills Saddle Club from Boonville with 138 hours. Annabelle Slone, Alexander Slone, Caitlyn Kelly, Eden Czajka, Dixie Wilson, Ian Kelly, Eden Czajka, Dixie Wilson, Alexander Slone. Barbwire 4-H Club from Holland Patent with 101 hours. Rylee Cingranelli, Aaron Finn, Peter Grocholski III, Pazia Grocholski, Stephanie Grocholski, Reese Finn, Trace Finn, Reese Finn Chowhounds from Clark Mills with 65 hours. Elijah Beers, Melanie Beers, Caleb Beers Country Cohorts from Durhamville with 154 hours. Bobby vanLieshout, Luke vanLieshout, Thomas vanLieshout, Bella vanLieshout, Layla vanLieshout. Hunter Hack Farms from Boonville with 188 hours. Brianna Yetman, Joseph Hill Mystery Riders from Port Leyden with 94 hours. Lanelle Vile, Martin Luther, Selby Young, Taylor Dailey Rural Rascals from Deansboro with 52 hours. Ruth Dibble, Uriah Dibble, P. Ella Larry, Blaise Larry, Charles Larry. Independent Members: Hannah Whitney, Levi Whitney from Camden. Alyssa Buck, Jacob Buck from Rome. Andrew Kilgore, Joseph Kilgore from Taberg. Brooke Schweinsberg from Old Forge. While rain melted the snow base down earlier in the week, Tuesday it started to turn to slush and snow. Then, more snow followed this morning. All of which gave the area a hearty snow-capped, White Christmas feel.

PTA shared out these pictures of the teachers' and students' hard work. *** Superintendent Chafee also tweeted a great picture of a visit to Mrs. Olmstead's class for gingerbread house fun! *** Santa kept true with his annual visit to the Deansboro Train Station.   A jolly good time complete with cookies, cocoa, chili, treats for the children, and wagon rides for all.
