- NEWSWORTHY -

It was Turbine Day (and some people had been anxiously waiting all week)!
The turbine made it to Bridgewater Thursday, which meant it was able to make it to Waterville at approximately 9:30 am.  It then traveled the same route as the first turbine in February in order to avoid underpasses- Osborne Ave, to Putnam, to Main St. and out Madison St. to Route 20.

Entering down Osborne Ave.

Taking the Corner at Putnam St.

Most spectators stayed in cars and buildings while waiting with the cold, but there were plenty of spectators lining the route!  Traffic then marched slowly along behind as it progressed.

The weather continues to be undecided, and very much like the fickle CNY weather that is joked about.  Snow flurries, sunshine, rain, wind...it has all graced our skies in recent days.

Brian Bogan sent in this picture of DPW chief Jamie Bechy and Aaron Barnes who responded to a call Wednesday night when strong winds caused a large tree to fall, completely blocking off Huntington Place and part of Tower St.  The tree was cleared an hour later.
Wednesday night, strong wind

Thursday on Shanley Rd.

Chances are the caves on Route 12 B will be frozen over come Saturday & Sunday with temperatures reaching the teens.

Data has again been retrieved from the Village's radar speed signs. The portable sign has been placed on NYS315 for the past 3 weeks. I have noticed first-hand that this sign's presence has made a huge difference in slowing vehicles down coming into the village. Reminder that the sign records data at the time the vehicle passes the sign, not when the vehicle first registers on the sign. Buell Ave (Route 315), from March 11 - April 1.
