Space Milestone: International Space Station Launch
December 4, 1998
The shuttle Endeavor took a U.S. component of the space station named Unity into orbit 220 miles from Earth where spacewalking astronauts fastened it to a component launched by the Russians, November 20th, 1998. The Unity Node contains more than 50,000 mechanical items, 216 lines to carry fluids and gases, and 121 internal and external electrical cables using six miles of wire.

PUBLIC STARGAZING, 7:30p, Saturday, December 12
at the Barton-Brown Observatory, Waterville Public Library.
Beginning at 8:30p there will be a guided tour of the sky
by our hosts, the Mohawk Valley Astronomical Society.
