- IN THE MAIL -

Eric “Rick” Crowe is a loving husband and dear friend from Waterville, NY. Over the July 4th weekend Rick complained of not feeling very well. On the morning of July 8th he arrived at McCraith Beverages where he has worked for 30 years, when his boss, Sue McCraith, noticed immediately that there was something seriously wrong. Rick was rushed to Slocum-Dickson Urgent Care where doctors determined he was having a heart attack. He was then transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center where they attempted angioplasty but could not complete the procedure due to complications. Rick was then air-lifted by helicopter via MercyFlight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He is now scheduled for open-heart surgery in the coming days.

Rick’s wife Mary has been by his side through this terrifying ordeal. She has made trips back and forth to the hospital, booking hotel rooms to be there for her husband. She has also had to find care for their beloved dog “Toby” while she is away from home.

It is unknown how long Rick will be unable to work. Rick's friends and family are pulling together to raise funds to help cover medical, travel and living expenses for the Crowes. We want Mary to be focused on Rick's health instead of worrying about the burden of mounting medical costs. The road ahead is going to be a difficult one for the Crowe family, but we hope to make it a little easier.

We are praying for Rick every day to pull through and make a full recovery and we urge you to join us. Any financial support would go a long way toward helping them through this incredibly difficult journey. We would also encourage you to share this on Facebook, Twitter, email or wherever you can. Thank you so much for your help and support!

Thursday morning the Waterville Garden Club took a trip to Cooperstown to see the magnificent gardens of Rhea Reynolds. If the name sounds familiar, you may have seen her artwork hanging in the Waterville Standard Bakery, and, of course, she is also known as Jeff Reynolds mom.

-IN THE NEWS- Although the groundhog did just predict an early spring and it certainly felt that way for a few days, it seems we are going to be getting a little more winter. With predictions of lake effect snow up to 10 inches by Friday morning and frigid weather coming this weekend it's probably best if we all enjoy this time doing something indoors with friends and family. For the latest on this winter weather visit cnycentral.com . ****** -IN THE MAIL- -The Farmers Market has been cancelled for today- From the Waterville Farmers Market: "Because of the weather showing more snow and gusty winds into Thursday, we are canceling today's market at Morgan's Hardware.
